Pantanal / Bonito Backpacker 2008

Comemoracao, onibus desatolado. Todos agora a caminho de bonito.

Na volta do Pantanal, onibus atolado na Estrada Parque.

Hoje era o dia de pescar os piranhas mas o tempo era muito mal e chovia! Nosso barco pesco 4 peixes e o otro barco tinha 5 peixes. Depues de piscar nos fomos no safari e vimos passaros, jacares, viados, araras e muito animals legals!!
Nos fomos pra almorcar e buscar nossas malas e fui para o onibus para Bonito! / Kristina (USA)

Grupo Arara na caminhada com o guia local Marcelo.

Woke up early and went to breakfast. The weather wasn’t very good but it was our groups turn to go Piranha fishing. When we got to the river we had to split up into two boats. We were given yellow ponchos and life jackets. We also had to walk through the mud to get the boats. Our boat caught 4 piranhas but the other boat caught 5. It poured rain and we got soaked!
After the fishing we went on a Safari and saw alligators, beautiful blue parrots, deer, birds, ostrichs and other great animals.
After the Safari we headed back to the hotel and packed up our bags and went to lunch. We were so sad to leave! But, we all hopped on the bus but because it was raining the bus got stuck in the mud. We waited for an hour for a tracker and finally it worked and we were on the road to Bonito! / Kristina (USA)

Nos dividimos em tres groupos: Anacondas, Macacos, e Araras. Estavamos no Anacondas. “Tssss!” J Depues do café de manha fomos para o primero passeo a “caminada”. Nos vimos jacares, plantas, passaros, e viados.
Depues de caminada nos fomos na piscina no hotel e jugamos futebol e jugos na piscina. Tambem vimos uma cobra!!
O otro passeo de nossa dia era o cavalos. Era muito legal! Vimos passaros e vacas grandes! E depues de cavalos nos fomos pra ver jacares. Todos estavam com medo. / Kristina (USA)

Later in the afternoon, we went horseback riding. It was our favorite. We each got to chose our own horses and each gave them their own special names. While we were out on our ride we got to see herds of cattle and flocks of birds. Our guide took us through many trails. It was really fun. We didn’t want it to finish!
After dinner we grabbed our flashlights and went for a walk around a river to spot alligators. Our tour guide grabbed an alligator right out of the river! We also got to touch the alligator. Everyone was so scared!
It was a long day, we were all exhausted, so we all just hung out and went to bed. / Kristina (USA)

A caminho dos passeios.

We all split up into groups: Anacondas, Monkeys and Birds. We were in the Anaconda group. Tssssss! After waking up before the sun rose, we had breakfast and headed out for our first adventure. Our first trip was the “caminada”. We went in a truck and stopped off in the middle of nowhere. We first saw alligators then walked through a jungle. It was amazing to see all the beautiful and exotic trees and plants. Unfortunately, we didn’t spot any anacondas but we did see wild horses, deer and beautiful birds.
Because of the heat, our adventures were early in the morning and late in the afternoon. After our walk we went back to the hotel and spent the day by the pool. It was amazing having exchange students from all around the world in one beautiful hotel. We played games in the pool, played football and sun tanned. We also saw a cobra! / Kristina (USA)
